Solar Power Transforms Digital Learning at Rural Zambia’s Kanyena Primary School
The Engineering Brighter Tomorrows (EBT) program, led by Engineers Without Borders Canada and Engineers Without Borders Zambia, successfully installed a 12kW off-grid solar PV system with 18-hour battery storage and Starlink connectivity at Kanyena Primary School in Nyimba District, Zambia. The project addressed limited
access to reliable electricity and digital infrastructure, enabling ICT education for over 400 pupils while improving school
operations and teacher retention. This collaborative project demonstrates a
scalable model for strengthening education infrastructure in underserved rural communities across Zambia.
