It has never been more important for the engineering community to help build a world where everyone and the planet can thrive.

We have been working for over 40 years to contribute to communities in need – in our own countries and beyond our own borders. Our work focuses on four critical areas of delivery:

  • Delivering critical infrastructure to communities in need;
  • Supporting people in crisis;
  • Inspiring, building and shaping a future fit engineering community;
  • Nurturing future fit engineering solutions.

Explore examples of this work below:

One in three people – 2.2 billion – do not have access to safe drinking water. One in two people – 4.2 billion – do not have safely managed sanitation services. One in ten people – 940 million – do not have access to electricity. 3 billion do not have access to clean cooking fuels. We are finding new ways to deal with critical infrastructure challenges.

Engineers Without Border Argentina is delivering sustainable water infrastructure to isolated rural communities affected by drought and climate variability.

Engineers Without Borders Netherlands is donating engineering expertise to support recycling and circular economy initiatives in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Madagascar.

Engineers Without Borders Philippines received a grant from the Philippine Department of Science and Technology to deploy a 50 kW Community-based Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Microgrid for an upland village in Manurigao, Municipality of New Bataan in the Province of Davao de Oro.

The climate crisis, global health pandemics, human conflict all put human lives at risk. We are building resilience and putting people and the planet first.

Engineers Without Borders Norway has supported earthquake affected North-West Syria, where it is very challenging for international aid organisations to gain access and little emergency aid has arrived.

Engineers Without Borders USA’s disaster response services provided by Engineering Service Corps volunteers include: building inspection, demolition assessment and geologic risk assessments.

EWB Israel is supporting an emergency project on the Polish-Ukrainian border, in association with trauma-specialised social workers in refugee camps, aims to empower refugees to meet their basic human needs.

We are driving change in the broader engineering community to ensure that all of engineering is focused on creating positive impact for all people, now and in the future.
